Is Coffee Good for You… or Not? Let’s Talk About It.

Let’s be real—coffee is basically a personality type at this point. For some of us, it’s the ritual, the warmth, the get-you-out-of-bed motivator. But with all the love it gets, there’s also a lot of talk about whether it’s actually good for you. So… is it?
The answer: it’s kind of up to you.
Let’s break down the pros, the cons, and why I say it’s the dealer’s choice.
The Pros of Coffee
1. Antioxidants Galore
Coffee is loaded with antioxidants that help fight inflammation, protect your cells, and boost overall health. In fact, it’s one of the top sources of antioxidants in the modern diet.
2. Energy + Focus
We all know this one. Caffeine stimulates the central nervous system, making you feel more alert, sharp, and ready to take on the day.
3. Mood Support
A moderate amount of caffeine can actually help fight depression, improve mood, and reduce risk of cognitive decline in the long run.
4. Metabolism Boost
Coffee can mildly increase your metabolic rate, helping your body burn fat more efficiently when paired with a healthy lifestyle.
The Cons of Coffee
1. It’s a Stimulant (and Not Always in a Good Way)
Too much caffeine can lead to anxiety, racing thoughts, insomnia, or irritability—especially when you’re already stressed or running on empty.
2. Adrenal Fatigue & Hormonal Imbalance
Chronic coffee dependence can mess with your adrenals and cortisol production, particularly in women. If you find yourself exhausted no matter how much coffee you drink… it might be time for a reset.
3. Gut Issues
On an empty stomach, coffee can irritate your digestive lining and increase acid production. If you’ve got a sensitive gut or heartburn, it might be worth watching.
4. Bone Mass Depletion
Here’s something people rarely talk about: black coffee, in excess, can contribute to calcium loss—increasing the risk of bone thinning over time.
Pro tip: Add a little milk or plant-based creamer. It helps buffer the acidity and support calcium levels.
My Take: Listen to Your Body and your Mind
There are weeks I can drink several cups a day and feel amazing. Other times? I know I need to cut back. That’s where my mushroom coffee comes in—it gives me focus, clarity, and energy without the crash or the acidic effects. I also love the community aspect of coffee or simply just relaxing with a delicious cup outside reading my book.
So is coffee good for you?
It depends on the day, your body, and your lifestyle.

You’re the dealer of your own deck. Just make sure your coffee isn’t playing you.
