Ride the Wave with the Texas Surf Museum 🏄‍♂️

Discover the Story Behind the Museum

Nestled in the heart of the historic Strand District at 2110 Mechanic St., Galveston, the Texas Surf Museum is a treasure trove of Lone Star State surf heritage. Housed in the former 1893 Galveston Daily News printing annex, this nonprofit museum spans three floors (nearly 4,000 sq ft) featuring vintage surfboards, historic photos, skateboards, trophies, rare magazines—and even a 150‑lb, 16‑ft replica Hawaiian olo‑board  .

Overseen by founder Albert Brown and a dedicated board of local surf legends, the museum officially opened in mid‑February 2025  . It celebrates Texas’s unique surf culture—from early Gulf Coast pioneers to modern wave riders—and makes it accessible to all ages and skill levels  .
